We use PostgreSQL, an advanced, robust, free, and open-source relational database management system (RDBMS) emphasizing extensibility and SQL compliance. PostgreSQL was selected due to it being truly open source and its scalability. There are multiple technical options for operating PostgreSQL at scale.
